Golden Week is unfolding at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives with a programme of dining, tea rituals and cultural experiences, set against the natural surroundings of Raa Atoll.
Designed to leave plenty of room between each experience, the programme moves from hands-on culinary sessions to evenings around the table, while the resort’s Overwater Pool Villas offer a quieter counterpoint above the lagoon. Days can be shaped around the celebrations or spent simply between the ocean, private pool and island.
Overwater Days
Extending above the lagoon, Alila Kothaifaru Maldives’ Overwater Pool Villas place the surrounding seascape at the heart of the stay.
The Lagoon Overwater Pool Villa, Ocean Overwater Pool Villa and Sunset Overwater Pool Villa each span 125 square metres, combining contemporary indoor and outdoor spaces with a private pool and uninterrupted views across the Indian Ocean. Different positions around the island bring changing perspectives throughout the day, from the first light over the lagoon to sunset from the villa.
Families and larger groups can also stay together in the Two-Bedroom Beach Pool Villa or Boduge Residence, with additional space suited to multi-generational stays.
Golden Week Around the Table
Food sits at the centre of the week, beginning on 1 October with a dumpling-making class led by Chef Amrit.
The following evening turns towards Chinese flavours with steamed local reef fish prepared with ginger and scallion, before Hot Pot Nights bring a more convivial style of dining to the weekend. On 6 October, Yakitori Bar hosts a Chinese-inspired barbecue skewer evening, followed by the Golden Week ‘Seasalt Night’ Buffet Dinner on 7 October.
Tea provides a gentler rhythm between these gatherings. In collaboration with Dilmah Tea, the resort will host mini-classes exploring tea and wellness, masterclasses and tastings, as well as evening pairing rituals throughout the week.

A Different Table Each Evening
For stays during Golden Week, the resort’s Half Board Special gives guests the flexibility to move between its different dining settings rather than returning to the same table each night.
Daily breakfast is served at Seasalt, while dinner can be enjoyed at Seasalt, Pibati, Yakitori Bar or Umami as a three-course à la carte menu. Guests choosing other participating venues receive a USD 75 dining credit, opening up experiences including Teppanyaki and The Shack, the resort’s private sand cay.
The plan also includes a collection of Alila Hospitalities, from Spa Alila wellness activities and snorkelling equipment to poolside refreshments, Play Alila, the Fitness Centre and Library.

Beyond the Celebrations
Away from the Golden Week programme, Raa Atoll provides plenty of reason to venture beyond the villa.
Snorkelling and diving reveal the marine life surrounding the island, while padel tennis, outdoor games and Play Alila offer time together on land. Spa Alila introduces a slower pace, while Alila Moments draws on Maldivian culture, nature and local traditions through experiences designed to connect guests more closely with the destination.
The programme deliberately leaves space for spontaneity. Guests can join the culinary and tea experiences that appeal to them, spend the day exploring the atoll, or allow the hours to pass between the lagoon and their private pool.
For Golden Week, that flexibility becomes part of the experience: a week shaped as much by time together as by how each day is chosen.
